Ike Melchizedek is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam whose practice moves across sculpture, painting, jewelry, fashion, installation, and sound. Working between fine art, design, and material culture, he creates objects and environments that explore identity, spirituality, craftsmanship, and the collective memory of the African diaspora.
Rooted in Afro-Caribbean heritage and informed by Rastafari philosophy, his work transforms historical references, symbols, and everyday materials into contemporary narratives. Through making, he examines the relationship between past and present, personal and collective histories, and the ways objects carry meaning across time.
Alongside his artistic practice, Ike is the founder and creative director of The Gang Is Beautiful (TGIB), a multidisciplinary platform that brings together art, fashion, music, and community through exhibitions, cultural programming, and collaborative projects.
His work exists between the autonomous and the applied, creating meaningful connections between people, place, and culture.
